I often get asked if I am Paleo or vegan. The answer is YES to both! Some days I eat more protein and veggies, other days my body craves only fruit, veggies, and sweet potatoes. I’ve experimented and played with my macros over the years, and my body feels much better on produce than protein. I love the hell out of a steak, but my challenged digestion doesn’t feel the same way!
So here’s how I roll: The days I lift weights I eat more protein. The second half of my cycle I eat more protein. When I want to give my gut a rest I’ll have soups, cooked veggies, avocado and coconut. Or eat raw all day. My only goal is to feel amazing, clear-headed and energized each and every day.
I’m not saying my way of eating is what’s going to work for you; I’m just sharing what works for me at present time. And I guarantee you that this will continue to evolve every year for the rest of my life.
What has enabled me to explore and intuit eating this way was to ask myself “What is it that my body wants to eat? What am I craving? What do I need today?” Asking questions of myself taps into my curious and analytical nature–and lets me play! I’m never bored or sick of what I eat because it varies every day.
